MUG began with a few simple observations:
Hundreds of residents in the Uncompahgre Valley engage in outdoor activities alone or in couples.
Many are not acquainted with others who share their interest in particular activities.
Unfortunately, many have no means of meeting like-minded outdoor people.
Many would enjoy being introduced to new activities by knowledgeable people.
Many seek information that might enhance their experience and enable them to participate more safely.
The practice of individuals driving solo to the outdoors is expensive and has a definite impact on traffic, safety, and quality of life.
