Who may join MUG? …Anyone!
We welcome kids of all ages, but, in order to participate in any MUG program or event, young persons under age 17 must be accompanied by a parent or an adult assigned by a parent.
We welcome Members with diverse interests: human-powered activities including hiking, ice climbing, rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, ice skating, skijoring, orienteering, backpacking, trail running, mountain biking, fishing, photography, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, mushrooming, caving, birding, painting, archeology, and other activities in the outdoors.
Disabled persons: Many people with physical challenges can find new ways to enjoy the outdoors, and MUG will serve to help disabled individuals to get outside with supportive friends.
Membership Dues: Free Membership through March 30, 2011. Nominal annual dues will be requested on or around April 1, 2011. We will inform Members when the Executive Committee decides to initiate membership dues.
In order to become a Member...
We ask you to request to be added to MUG by contacting our Membership Committee. We require that potential member attend an Evening Program in Montrose in order to become acquainted with MUG and MUG Members. We also require that member candidates be sponsored by a current Member. You will be asked to complete and return a "MUG Member Survey" form which the MUG Membership Committee will email to you. After approval, the Membership Committee will respond by assigning to you a unique three-digit MUG Member Number. With the many exposures of Internet access, we must carefully process and document new MUG Members.
Next, you will need a Yahoo! Account. You can acquire that Yahoo! Account ID by going to Yahoo! and signing up. So, if you don't, yet, own a Yahoo! ID, why not go to Yahoo! and sign up, now.
After you have confirmed to the MUG Membership Committee that you have a Yahoo! ID and you have received your MUG Member Number, MUG will send to you an Invitation via Yahoo!Groups. When you reply to Yahoo!Groups and accept membership to Mountain_User_Group (on Yahoo!Groups), you will, then, enjoy full access to the MUG MemberMatch Site.
The Membership Committee will send to you an email form requesting ten (10) data items that will identify you and your outdoor activities, both current and desired. Complete the email form and return it via email to populate your record on the MUG Member Database.
That's it! It may seem complicated, but, once this process is completed, you will be a bonified MUG Member...yahoo!
Soon after we receive your Member Survey and issue you a Member Number, we will issue to you an official MUG Membership Card which will display your Member Number.
